“Lapis iste vel hoc lignum mihi Lumen est”.
(John Scotus Erigena)
The reality was revealed as Blessing.
Thirty years have passed, but neither vagaries nor tragedies can obscure the glorious light of Joy: it lives in the present, in a now that doesn’t know time.
Of course the words can only stutter around the unutterable that is simply true.
Just one hour before (but is there such a thing as this “before” ? … Wisdom is eternally calling us and speaking to us …), we had talked about the truth, God, and being.
You asked me what I thought about your reflections…and we agreed that it is not possible that all could be out of random chance and sheer nothing.
A little step ? Taking into consideration where we came from, it was a jump through galaxies.
You said that you were glad and I saw your meek smile, mother. You remained silent, and smiling. There was an unfathomable peace in that smile.
Thus, in the memory of one day both the imperatives gather: we must talk about the truths of philosophy, and we must also talk about the truth that goes much beyond the limits of any discourse, the truth of the sapiential knowledge.
Have we really to talk about the truth that words cannot actually express ? Yes, because an overwhelming joy pushes us to try and try again to utter the unspeakable ! …to share, to remember, to remind, to invite, to lure…
This has been said many times in the past, and it is true.
Besides, the respect for the Sacred Tradition - the Tradition that has bloomed and has brought the consolation and the challenge of Wisdom to the human beings in every time and everywhere - should always be the very center of our thinking.
But it is also true that we have to say the everlasting truths that can demolish the bastions of ignorance and falsity erected by the demons of nihilism, who try to hide the very existence of the Sacred Way by foolishly denying God Who Is Infinite Love.
Two “imperatives”…but it is a joyous duty: the truth is the Temple, and the merry inn where the soul rests at ease…
We must thank for the glorious peace that can touch the heart and the mind of the human beings. Blessed kairos, that roars athwart time bringing true joy.
Around those glimpses of Truth winds the Way.
