Isaiah, 30:15, teaches:
(King James:) "...in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:..."
גְּבֽוּרַתְכֶ֑ם תִּֽהְיֶ֖ה וּבְבִטְחָ֔ה בְּהַשְׁקֵט֙
(right to left :)
be•hash•ket quietness

tih•yeh "become" (but "to cause" also)

"In quiet [also: peace] and confidence [properly: the feeling of trust for being in a secure shelter] you could have [see the second part of the verset: but you have not] found your might
[might, GEBURA, is a very strong word, "mighty" (GIBOR) is often mentioned as one of the attributes of God (e.g.: Siddur passim : ATTA GIBOR LOLAM ADONAI You are eternally mighty, Lord)]."
This teaching is an extraordinary diagnosis of the true condition of the human being: it tells us exactly where we are and what we can do. It tells us that we receive a POWER, a MIGHT and that we can lose it if we don't understand it.
The words of this teaching need to be understood deeply, rejecting any and every trivial interpretation: which "quiet/peace", which "trust/confidence" can be called a "might", a "power" ?
The quiet and the confidence of knowing that God is all in all, of knowing that God is Infinite Love.
The quiet and the confidence of knowing that God gave us life, and that God will always give us more life.
The quiet and the confidence of knowing that God Who Is Infinite Love is always Present.
Such knowledge frees us from the chains of the lies that teach that there is a non-sacred, a profane, reality.
So free, and therefore again capable of wonder and awe, we can hear the voice of Wisdom (who talks to all the human beings who are willing and capable of listening): this is the MIGHT that each one of us receives from the Infinite Love of God. And that those who choose evil lose.
Wisdom is the Holy Spirit whose wings can carry us through the finite to the Infinite, through the time to the Eternal, through the here of space to the Truth in which every"thing" truly is.
Flying away from the nightmares of nihilism with the wings of Wisdom, we can see why it is true that
"Holy Holy Holy, the whole world is filled with Your Glory !",
and the fact that we can reach this vision is our might, a Divine Grace.
Quiet and confidence are lost if we forget that God Who is Infinite Love is always Present and if therefore we believe any nihilist, secularist, materialistic description of the world. If we blindly believe that there is any profane, not Sacred, reality, we will suffer the catastrophe (literally: the down turn), the fall, the crash of that power that has been given to us (compare: Gen. 44:10).
Isaiah continues:
(King James:)
(30:15)
"...and ye would not.
(30:16)
But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift."
Compare:
Gen. 44:10 "as per your words, so it will be".
Instead of being profoundly at peace and confident in the Infinite Love of God, and thriving in the MIGHT that such knowledge evokes, the believers in the nothing try to find strength in a "finite" of their invention - that pretends to be no longer the Wonder of the Creation and that pretends to be profane - and in so doing they chain themselves to a granitic despair that inevitably drives them to crash down.
Let's not bind such a stone to our neck !
Nihilism has invented a devilish pseudo-"freedom" and has opposed it to the Truth but only the Sacred Knowledge makes us truly free, free to contemplate the Presence of God Who is Infinite Love, free to listen to the voice of Wisdom.
Fly with the wings of Wisdom, in wondrous circles, in the Kingdom of the Truth !
